Miss Turkey ® is a national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Turkey, who personify beauty with intelligence. The first beauty contest was held on September 2, 1929 with the backing of the government, and the title holder was Feriha Tevfik.
Miss Turkey Organization currently sends delegates to Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth.
Açelya Samyeli Danoğlu was the overall winner of the Miss Turkey 2012 pageant and was crowned Miss Turkey World 2012. The beauty from Istanbul is 18 years old and stands 1.83m. She represented Turkey in Miss World 2012 in China this August.
